Culver City is already home to big businesses like Sony Pictures, Smashbox Studios, and several YouTube channels, and now it will also boast L.A.’s next major retail destination. Opening March 17 in the Hayden Tract neighborhood, Platform is a shopping complex unlike anything you’ve ever seen. Equal parts architectural wonderland and futuristic fashion hub, it’s an urban oasis with a seamless indoor-outdoor space and a roster of storefronts that you won’t find in any other part of the city.
Local developers Joseph Miller and David Fishbein aimed to fill this shopping haven with an exclusive mix, including inaugural shops from interior expert Tom Dixon, eyewear designer Linda Farrow, and the first-ever Aesop spa. And there’s no greasy food court here: Instead fill up on fruity açai bowls at Sāo, munch on antojitos (Mexican street bites) at Loqui, and cool off with an ice cream at Van Leeuwen.

You’ll also find SoulCycle’s West Coast headquarters, in case you want to break a sweat, as well as the first L.A. storefront for athleisure brand Aday; a unique café concept from Blue Bottle Coffee; a New York-based meat and beer-driven restaurant called The Cannibal; and a Janessa Leone pop-up with Freda Salvador footwear that will run for three months starting April 1. The pop-up will be the first stand-alone retail spot for Leone and her famed felt hats worn by Jessica Alba and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. It will also sell her coveted new handbag collection, which is currently only offered on her website.
One thing is for certain: Platform houses a collection of super exclusive spaces that make for a unique shopping and dining experience. Even the parking garage is stylish. The six-story structure has space for rotating art installations, like the current psychedelic exterior mural by Miley Cyrus fave Jen Stark.
Best of all, Platform is located right on the L.A. Metro Expo line, which will run all the way to Santa Monica beginning in May. For now, hop off at the Culver City Station to get your shopping on.
